Teacher Training:
Time Commitment

Summer Session 2010 will run from May 23rd to August29.

TT Students will have Lab Session every Sunday from about 9am to 5pm. Some days will be shorter that others, but you should plan to be at Lab session for the entire scheduled time. Locations to be determined, but they will be somewhere on the westside. For summer session, we will try to hold class outside as much as poissible.

TT Students will also have a 2-hour discussion session once a week where we will discuss a book from our reading list. Even though this is only two hours of "classroom time," understand that you will be expected to read a book every week. This will require anywhere from 2 to 10 hours a week depending on what we are reading any given week and how you feel about reading it. This will be on top of your other homework We will schedule Discussion Session according to students' schedules.

TT Students will be required to take a minimum of five classes per week - one with me, two with teachers of my choosing, one with a teacher of your choosing, and one practice with yourself. Of course, you are encouraged to practice as much as you are able. You will find that the best way to learn something is to apply it often and much.

Requirements for graduation will also require you to assist me in class (making adjustments) at your convenience. Your final exam will require you to organize and teach a class to myself and at least three other students.

A sample syllabus and reading list are available on the menu to the right. These documens will a little different for the Summer Session, but they will give you a very good idea of what to expect from Teacher Training.

"Jay Co's teacher training is an amazing approach to understanding yoga - it has not only completely changed my own practice, but also opened my eyes to different teaching styles available, allowing me to find my own unique and fresh style.  The once-a-week classes, the instructor shadows and the book clubs make this teacher training different, fun, well...and basically radical!"
~ Jacki Carr, Spring 2010
